Biennial, 30-50 cm, finely adpressed white-tomentose, often glabrescent, eglandular. Stem slender, terete, striate, simple or sometimes branched from base. Basal leaves narrowly or broadly lanceolate, 8-15 x 1-4 cm, crenulate to coarsely crenate and crenate-serrate, ± acute, petiole narrow, 2-6 cm; cauline smaller, upper lanceolate to linear, obscurely crenulate to entire. Inflorescence simple or with few short or longer erect-spreading branches, with loose clusters· of 1-4 flowers. Bracts linear-lanceolate to linear, acuminate to caudate. Pedicels to 15 mm; bracteoles setaceous, minute. Calyx 4-5 mm, lobes oblong to linear, acutish or acute. Corolla yellow, 15-20 mm diam., with pellucid glands, tomentose outside. Stamens 5, anthers reniform, filaments with whitish-yellow wool, 2 anterior glabrous near apex. Capsule elliptic to ovate, 5-7 x 3-4 mm, tomentose: Fl. 6-7. Pastures, steppe, volcanic rocks, 1200-2135 m.
