Dwarf, caespitose perennial. Stems in their older parts prostrate, young branches ascending, 2-4 cm, quadrangular, glabrous. Leaves bright green, not nigrescent when dried, densely imbricate; basal marcescent, 1-4 x 0.4-0.6 mm, linear-oblong, mucronate, curved inwards; upper 4-12 x 0.4-0.6 mm, linear-subulate, aristate, with hyaline awns 0.3-0.7 mm, glabrous, with scabrid, revolute margins, rarely subhirsute. Bracts 3-6 x 0.5-1.2 mm, ± lanceolate-subulate, long-aristate, with flat margins, sometimes irregularly denticulate. Flowers in depauperate, terminal cymes, scarcely exceeding the shoots. Calyx inconspicuous or absent. Corolla lurid pink, 4-5.5 mm, infundibular; lobes 1.5-2 mm, ovate-oblong to oblong, cucullate, spreading. Ovary papillose. Fl. 7. Rocky steppe, 2000-2600 m.
