Small intricate shrub with alternate branches, young spines brown, glabrous. Leaf lamina obovate or elliptic-oblong or oblanceolate, 7-15 x 3-6 mm, margin entire and ciliolate, upper surface light green, lower whitish-glaucous and obscurely reticulate-nerved, densely puberulent; petiole 3-4 mm, puberulous. Disc puberulous. Fruit 4-5 mm diam., glabrous, red or speckled when ripe; seed with a bifid groove. Fl. spring. Rocky places, macchie, 700-1600 m.
