Annual. Stems 5-20 cm, pubescent, with 2-5 pairs of leaves. Leaves shortly petiolate ; lamina lanceolate-ovate to linear-oblong, 10-25 x 3-15 mm, subglabrous, dentate-serrate to subentire. Terminal raceme often reduced. Racemes 20-40-flowered, rather dense, pubescent, shorter hairs adpressed, eglandular, curved, longer ones patent, glandular, often numerous. Bracts linear to lanceolate, acute. Fruiting pedicels 6-12 mm, 0,8-2 x bracts, distinctly recurved or deflexed. Calyx lobes 4-7 x 0,8-2,5 mm in fruit, sepal pairs connate for 0,4-0,6 mm , linear-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, acute, subglabrous, rarely pubescent. Corolla blue, 2-4 mm diam. Style 0,8-1,4 mm, ½ x sinus. Capsule 3-5 x 4-6 mm, deeply 2-lobed, sinus 2-3,3 mm , lobes ultimately divergent, densely pubescent, with short eglandular and longer glandular hairs. Seeds 6-10, oblong, 1,2-2,2x0,7-1,5 mm, cymbiform, strongly rugose, with 5-8 very prominent transverse ridges. 2n = c. 56. Fl. 4-6. Steppe, cultivated land, roadsides, riverbanks, alpine grassland, 900-2100 m.
