Scapose perennial with creeping, scaly rhizomes. Leaves all from the base, long-petiolate, the leaflets broadly obcordate, with scattered adpressed hairs. Scapes up to 15 cm, bearing a single flower at ± the same level as the leaves. Bracteoles 2, borne at or somewhat above the middle of the scape. Sepals oblong-lanceolate, 4-5 mm. Petals white, often purple-veined, 10-16 mm. Capsule ovoid-globose, glabrous, ± 5-angled. FI. 4. Banks in forest, 10-1700 m.
