Annual, glandular-pubescent. Stems erect, ± sturdy, 20-50 cm, usually unbranched, sometimes with short suberect branches. Leaves oblong-Ianceolate, 2-4,5 x 5-15 cm, dentate, sessile, acute. Inflorescence spike-like, loose, elongating in fruit. Pedicels c. 1 mm. Calyx tubular, 10-18 mm; tube 4,5-9 mm; lobes 6-11 mm, linear-lanceolate. Corolla yellow or yellowish-white, 15-25 mm, pilose, caducous; tube 10-14 mm; lower lip ± equally 3-lobed. Anthers pilose, mucronate. Capsule 9-12 x 3-4 mm. Fl. 4-7. Meadows, wet places, salldy hills. Quercus scrub, s.I.-900 m.
