Stout much branched perennial; stems 30-85 cm, crisped-hairy. Leaves linear, 2-3 x 0,3 cm, entire or very obscurely denticulate, sparsely spreading-pubescent. Inflorescence a lax compound raceme. Flowers erect in bud; petals 14-16 mm, deep pink or purple; styles c. as long as stamens. Capsule 5-6 cm; seeds 1,8-2, finely papillose. Fl. 8-9. Eroded banks, etc., 1100-1500 m.
