Prostrate annual herb. Stems up to 40 cm, stellate-tomentose, often canescent. Leaves often with leafy shoots in their axils, orbicular or orbicular-cuneate, stellate-tomentose, frequently canescent. Perianth segments 5, acute, stellate-tomentose. Stamens 12, often with toothed or very broad illaments. An indefinite number of petaloid staminodes occurs between the perianth segments and the stamens. Fruit a capsule opening by 2 valves. FI. 8. Damp places.
