Perennial, stems typically prostrate, 6-12 cm, springing from a stout woody stock, densely leafy, 1-5-flowered. Median leaves oblong-linear, obtuse, thick, obscurely 1-nerved, glaucous, 5-7 x 1-1.5 mm, lower ones smaller and imbricate. Pedicels erect in fruit. Sepals 3-5 mm, scarcely nerved, outer oblong and often subacute, inner broadly elliptical, obtuse. Petals overlapping nearly to the top, 11-14 mm, blue. Stigmas oblong-capitate. Capsule 5-6 mm. Fl. 7-8. Rocky limestone slopes and summit ridges, 3000-3500 m.
