Herbaceous perennial. Stems erect, 30-70 x 2-5 mm, hollow, villosulous above, glabrescent below. Median cauline leaves broadly lanceolate, acute, 28-58 x 5-17 mm, rounded at base, eglandular, 5-7-nerved, sparsely pilose or glabrescent. Cyme compact, 3-5 cm diam., many-flowered. Outer sepals lanceolate, 7-9 mm, pilose, blackish and glandular-margined in the upper ½ -1/3 . Petals rose-pink or mauve, 25-33 m, tapering into a claw ¼ -1/3 as long as limb. Capsule 6 mm. Fl. 6-7. Forest, scrub, meadows, rocky places, 1700-2500 m.
