Corm tunic finely reticulate-fibrous, sometimes extended at apex into a neck to 3.5-6 cm. Leaves 7-17, hysteranthous or synanthous, 0.5-1.5 mm broad. Prophyll present. Bracteole present, much smaller than bract. Throat of perianth whitish or lilac, pubescent; segments 1.9-5 x 0.4-1.6 cm, acute or acuminate, rarely obtuse, pale to deep lilac-blue or reddish-purple, often veined darker. Filaments 2-5 mm, white, glabrous; anthers 0.9-2 cm, yellow. Style dividing into 3 red or orange, rarely yellow branches. 2n = 12, 14. Fl. 10-11. Exposed stony places, sparse woods, scrub, 70-2000 m.
