Shrub, 1,5-2 m. Leaves c. 10x10cm, with pubescent petiole and usually glabrous lamina. Racemes drroping, to 12 cm, with 30-50 yellowish-green flowers. Bracteoles 1 mm. Hypanthium pelviform with a raised wing, bearing 5 large protuberances, between stamens and styles. Sepals ligulate, deflexed. Petals much shorter, also deflexed. Fruit red, acid, glabrous. Fl. 7-9. Open places in forest, c. 1700 m.
