Saxatile perennial, with branched woody caudex clothed in old stipules. Stems ascending, 12-30 cm, shaggily glandular-pilose. Basal leaves ovate, shortly 3-5 lobed, crenate or crenate-dentate. Upper cauline leaves more acutely toothed. Sepals 6-7 mm; awn 1-1,5 mm. Petals ± dimorphic, white with violet veins, a little longer than sepals. Beak of fruit 1,5-3 cm. Fl. 6-7. Shady limestone rocks, often at the mouths of caverns, 900-1500 m.
