Annual. Stems procumbent or ascending, pubescent, 5-50 cm. Basal and cauline leaves ovate, 5-7-lobed, crenate-dentate. Bracts several. Sepals 4-5 mn; awn 0,5-0,8 mm. Petals mauve-pink, 1 ½  x sepals. Beak of fruit 22-25 mm. Mericarps 4-5 mm, with a furrow beneath each gland-dotted foveole. Fl. 2-5. Rocky slopes, grassy banks, fallow fields, etc., s.l.- 300 m.
Mediterranean area, Syrian Desert, Iran; introduced in America & Cape. Medit. element.
