Erect, caulescent perennial, 55-85 cm. Leaves 10-16 cm, leaflets 10-20 mm, oblong, glabrous above, sparsely short white bifurcate-hairy below, 10-18-paired; lower stipules ovate-triangular, connate, upper 8-11 mm, lanceolate, free. Peduncles c. 12 cm. Inflorescence an ovoid to oblong, many-flowered raceme with sessile, pendulous flowers. Bracts 4-6 mm, linear-lanceolate. Calyx 5 mm, campanulate, shortly black and white spreading-hairy; teeth c. 1 mm, broadly triangular. Corolla whitish suffused with purple; standard 17-22 mm. Legume 25-40 xc. 3 mm, slightly compressed laterally, deeply grooved below, sparsely adpressed, black- and white-hairy or glabrous, beak c. 1 mm. Fl. 6-8. Meadows, under Pinus silvestris, 1600-2100 m.
