Shrub or small tree up to 4,5 m; branches often reddish. Leaves ovate-Ianceolate to broadly elliptic, 4-10 cm, with 3-5 pairs of veins. Inflorescence 3-4,5 cm diam., many-flowered. Flowers whitish or cream; sepals 0,5-1,5 mm; petals 4-7 mm. Drupe 5-8 mrn, globose, purplish-black. Fl. 5-6. Limestone slopes, in woodland, s.l.-1400 m.
