Corm 3-5 x 1.5-2 cm, narrowly ovoid to subglobose; outer tunics blackish-brown, strongly coriaceous, with prominent longitudinal corrugations, inner pale chestnut-brown, apex laciniate with rigid fibres extending for 1-5 cm. Leaves 3, synanthous , narrowly linear to linear-lanceolate, erecto-patent and extending for 1-4 cm at anthesis, recurved and 10-15 cm x 8-10 mm at maturity, apex cucullate, obtuse, shortly pilose at least on margins. Flowers 1-3, funnel-shaped opening stellate. Perianth segments white or pale purplish-pink, narrowly oblanceolate, 2-3 cm x 4-6 mm, obtuse or acute, glabrous. Filaments 8-10 mm, thinly pilose at least near base; anthers dark purplish-black or black, 2-3 x 1 mm; pollen yellow. Styles straight, stigmas punctiform. Capsule narrowly ellipsoid, c. 1 cm x 3 mm, scabrid-pilose at apex. Fl. 1-3. Stony slopes, grazed turf, open terra rossa, s.l.-1450 m.
