Branched shrub, up to 3 m. Twigs densely covered with corky warts. Leaves narrowly ovate to ovate, acuminate, serrate. Inflorescence dichasial, 1-9-flowered. Flowers 4-merous. Petals brownish purple, c.2.5 mm. Capsule with rounded angles. Seeds black, partly covered by the orange aril. Fl. 5-6. Scrub, 850-1600 m.
