Annual herbs, 10-30 cm. Stems 4-angled, often minutely asperous, procumbent, weak. Leaves linear-lanceolate, persistent, weakly spreading, 15-60 x 1-3 mm. often puberulous. Each flowering stem with 10-20 flowers on slender pedicels, often reflexed at tip. Sepals 3-5 mm. Petals at most equalling sepals. Styles 3. Seeds 3-5. Fl. 3-5. Forest, often in shade, s.l.-550 m.
