Glabrous perennial with woody stock; stems numerous, woody at the base, often glandular-hairy above the nodes, 20-100 cm. Leaves coriaceous, with prominent nerve-net, sessile, basal leaves lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, stem leaves cordate-amplexicaul, often perfoliate, up to 2.5 cm long and wide. Inflorescence a many-flowered lax panicle. Bracts linear, acute. Pedicels 3-20 mm. Calyx campanulate, 2-2.5 mm, teeth ovate, obtuse to apiculate, ciliate along the margins. Petals white to pale pink, 3-5 mm, linear-oblong, obtuse. Seeds with flat tubercles. Fl. 6-7. Dry hills and slopes, 300-1800 m.
