Plant 10-15 cm tall, usually simply branched from base, shortly hispid or subglabrous. Leaves all undulate, crenate. Flowers solitary or to 5 in small terminal clusters. Calyx lobes ovate-lanceolate, 2 x corolla, erecto-patent. Corolla broadly campanulate, 6 x 6-15 mm, lobes 2,5 mm, reddish-purple or lilac. Filaments small, glabrous. Ovary c. 10 mm, much elongated after flowering. Capsule 15-25 mm, constricted at apex. Seeds orbicular, 1,2 mm. Fl. 6-8. Fields, roadsides, open places, s.l.-1500 m.
