Patent-hispid annual. Stems 5-15 cm, usually branched dichotomously from base. Leaves variable, lower ± spathulate, subsessile; cauline oblong-lanceolate, elliptic, obtuse, 5-30 x 3-10 mm, subentire, sessile. Flowers solitary, terminal, on short peduncles. Calyx lobes linear-lanceolate, acute, erect, 5-8 mm. Appendages triangular, acute, with revolute margin, longer than ovary, like calyx lobes accrescent in fruit. Corolla infundibular, 10-15 mm, divided to ½ , hairy on nerves outside or ± glabrous, pale violet or violet. Style ± exserted. Stigmas 3, short. Capsule nodding. Seeds narrowly ellipsoid, 1 x 0,2 mm, yellowish, shiny. 2n = 16. Fl. 4-6. Sandy soil, steppe, slopes, s.l.-1800 m.
