Shrub, 0.5-1 m. Distinguished from B. sempervirens by young shoots glabrous or soon glabrescent, wood whitish throughout; leaves larger and relatively longer, oblong-elliptic, 3-5 x as long as broad, thicker, glossier above, drying pale glaucescent green below; flower clusters c. 10 mm across, with larger relatively broader bracteoles; anthers 2-2.5 mm; styles 4-5 min, subequal to capsule. Fl. spring; fro 7. Limestone gorges and on rocks, 150-900 m; calcicole.
