Perennial, 30-80 cm, sub-simple or much branched. Basal leaves petiolate, lanceolate or pinnatifid; upper sessile, both with either glandular tubercles and or with branched eglandular hairs. Inflorescence much elongating in fruit. Petals 8 x 4 mm. Stigma capitate, ± sessile. Ovary 2-ovulate. Fruiting pedicels 10-20 mm. Fruit 7-8 x 4 mm , 1-seeded, without any line of dehiscence. Cotyledons tightly spirally inrolled. Fl. 5-8. Fields, rocky slopes, 1600-2300 m.
C. Europe, Balkans, S. Russia, Caucasia, N. Iraq, N. Iran and Siberia.
