Annual with simple or rarely branched, erect stems 15-50 cm high. Leaves pinnate with 4-7 pairs of oblong or suborbicular leaflets, basal pinnules auriculate and clasping the stem. Inflorescence elongating in fruit. Petals 5-6 x 1,5-2 mm, truncate at apex of blade, gradually narrowed into a thin claw. Fruiting pedicels adpressed, 3-4 mm, thick. Fruit 17-22 x 3-4 mm; septum 16-18 x 3-5 mm; horns of fruit 3 mm. Seeds 8-12, surface pitted. Fl. 4-6. Marshes and ditches, near sea level.
