Caespitose, densely greyish-white tomentose herb with woody rootstock. Stems 8-20 cm. Basal leaves subpalmatisect, 1-2.5 cm , broadly ovate or orbicular in outline; primary segments 2-3-paired, entire or divided into 3-5 linear, acute segments 2-10x0.4 mm; cauline leaves sessile, pinnatisect, lanceolate in outline, bearing up to 3 pairs of lateral segments; upper leaves becoming simpler. Capitula solitary on ± naked peduncles. Involucre 0.8-1.3 cm broad; phyllaries brown- or blackish-margined, outer linear-lanceolate, 3.5 x1.5 mm, inner oblanceolate, up to 7 mm, widening and scarious-lacerate at apex. Ray flowers c. 12-20, white, ligules 6-12 x 2.5-5 mm, apex shallowly 3-toothed. Disc flowers 2.5-3.5 mm. Achenes brown, 2-2.5 mm, 4-5-ribbed; corona 1-1.5 mm, ± unilateral , unevenly notched at apex. Fl. 7-8. Rocky limestone slopes, crevices and screes, 1450-3580 m.
