Plant white-tomentose, eglandular, densely tufted at base. Flowering stems 15-60 cm, erect, unbranched. Leaves linear-oblanceolate, diminishing in length towards top of stems, basal ones dying back untidily. Capitula numerous, ovoid, 4-5 mm, borne in dense subglobose corymbs. Phyllaries obtuse, strongly concave, loosely imbricate, opaque, snow-white. Marginal flowers female. Fl. 5-8. Pinus brutia forest, among limestone rocks, 20-910 m.
