Bulb 0.5-1.5 cm diam., tunics fuscous-vio1et. Leaves 3-5, broadly linear, 8-24 cm x 4-10 mm. Scapes 1-3, 8-26 cm. Raceme lax, 2-3-flowered; pedicels suberect, shorter than perianth segments. Bracts equally or unequally bifid, 1-3 mm, ovate-lanceolate, usually truncate, acute or irregularly laciniate above. Perianth segments usually dull blue or prussian blue , white at base, with thin darker midrib, 12-18 x 3-5 mm, spreading. Filaments 1-1.5 mm broad at base. Ovary subglobose, 3-4 mm diam.· Style usually straight, 4.5-6.5 mm. Seeds subglobose, 3-3.5 mm diam., black; strophio1e comb-shaped , white when immature, black when mature. 2n = 12. Fl. 3-5. Woods, subalpine meadows, 500-1440m.
