Bulb 1.5-2.5 cm diam., tunics fuscous-violet. Leaves 4-6, appearing before flowers, broadly linear, 13-40 cm x 10-20 mm. Scapes 2-4, erect, 14-38 cm. Raceme lax, 4-6-flowered; pedicels suberect, shorter than perianth segments, elongating slightly in fruit. Bracts equally or unequally bifid, 2-5 mm, ovate, truncate, acute or irregularly laciniate above, spurred. Perianth segments pale or lavender blue, 9-16 x 3-4 mm, spreading. Filaments 0.5-1 mm broad below. Ovary subglobose, c. 3mm diam. Style straight, slender, 4.5-9 mm. Seeds ovoid, 3 x 2 mm, black, with concolorous caruncle and scarcely developed raphe-like strophiole. 2n = 12. Fl. 3-4. Woods, on limestone rocks, 50-1200 m.
