Syn: Biarum kotschyi
Tubers subglobose, 2-3.5 cm diam., 1-2.5 cm high. Leaves broadly ovate to elliptic, lamina 6-13.5 x 2-4 cm, apex obtuse, base cuneate or attenuate into 8-23 cm petiole; lateral veins 7-9  per side. Scape 2-10 cm. Spathe 8-15 cm. Tube 3-4 cm margins connate for 1/4-1/2; lamina elongate-lanceolate, 6-11 cm, brownish-green outside, brownish-purple within. Spadix 9-14 cm; female zone 5-10 mm, hemispherical. sterile zone 20~25 mm, sterile flowers restricted to lowest 1/3patent, c. 7.5-10 mm; male zone 8-10.5 mm. Appendix 6-10 cm, slender, 1.5-3 mm broad, without a distinct stipe. Berries dark dull orange red, 10 x 7 mm. Fl. 11-12. Limestone rocks, Quercus macchie, fields, 30-1725 m.
