Erect sturdy branched glabrous perennial with solid angular ridged stems up to 50 cm. Roots with ovoid tubers. Basal leaves triangular, 3-pinnate, up to 25 x 18 cm; ultimate segments ovate, up to 25 x 18 mm, serrate. Petioles shorter than rachis. Umbels terminal. Rays 4-5, up to 12 cm, fasciated and proliferating. Bracts absent. Bracteoles 15-20, c. 16 x 1 mm. Central umbellule sessile, hermaphrodite, 40-60-flowered; outer umbellules sterile. Fruit ± cylindrical; styles up to 3 mm. Wet places, 50-150 m.
